The Guelph Farmers Market has been a focal point of our downtown for over 173 years. Although times have changed, and we find ourselves rocketing towards the new millennium, the Guelph Farmers Market remains a place where farm fresh fruit and vegetables can still be purchased. Our farmers work hard for what they grow, and they come to the market to proudly display and sell the fruits of their labour.
The Guelph Farmers Market is open Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. It is located on Gordon Street at Waterloo Avenue.
It is a community place, where families come to shop for quality meat, cheese, eggs, produce, baked goods and preserves, as well as trying all the delicious foods prepared by the vendors. Customers enjoy the one-on-one relationship with the vendor and/or producer, who, in most cases are the same person.
The market is home to quality craft vendors and businesses displaying unique items, perfect for that person who has everything. Most market shoppers would prefer their money go directly to the people who work hard to produce quality food and products, rather than to some impersonal supermarket chain. Non-profit organizations can take advantage of the atmosphere at the Guelph market for fundraising and community awareness on social and political issues.
So whether you come to the Guelph Farmers Market to socialize, spend quality time with your family, the fresh produce, or to make a living, you are supporting an historic focal point of this community.
